Daly Days kicked off with a bang on Saturday, June 21, Mile High Striders club hosting a 5K walk/run starting at the Lake District Hospital.
Twenty-three participants joined in the festivities, ranging in age from one to 73. Events included a 5K run, 5K walk, one-mile walk, and kids quarter-mile run.
The kids’ quarter-mile was the first event, with Zane Gray and Paige Owens being the top finishers. Darlene Karo was the winner of the one-mile walk, and Diana Hansen placed first in the 5,000-meter walk.
The top finishers in the 5,0000-meter run were Ethan Howard (21:50) and Connie Cummins (25:34). Trevor Owens was tops in the 12 and under age group in the 5K run. Lakeview High School track team member Tenysen Patzke placed tops among ages 13-18 with a time of 33:26. Laura Dary finished first among 19-29 year olds, Danette Owens captured the 30-39 crown, Trevor Stancliff took 40-49 honors, Lee Fledderjohann earned the top spot among 50-59, and for 60 and above Larry Holloway had one of the top times on the day at 26:48.
The next Mile High Striders event will be a 45-mile relay on Saturday, July 12 starting at the Lakeview community pool and traveling to Adel. Registration packets are available at the Lake County Chamber of Commerce, Howard’s Drugs, Back Yard Floral and Holloway Photography.
