Those interested in running for any of the four positions in this year’s special election can file their candidacy at the Lake County Clerk’s office.
The filing deadline for this year’s May 20 special election is Tuesday, March 11. There is a $50 filing fee assessed for those filing their candidacy.
Up for election this year are two county commissioner seats, the Lake County Sheriff position and the county surveyor position.
Incumbent candidates that have filed so far include Dan Shoun for Lake County Commissioner Position 2, Ken Kestner as Lake County Commission Position 3 and Lake County Sheriff Phil McDonald.
Lucinda Nolan has filed to run against Kestner for Position 3.
Darryl Anderson is the incumbent county surveyor. The county sheriff position may not appear on the May 20 ballot, depending upon whether any candidates file for the position. The sheriff’s position is generally decided in the fall general election, said Lake County Clerk Stacie Geaney.
All positions are four-year terms.
