A Child’s Point of View

January 23, 2013 by

The Barry Point fire was both sad and davisting for our family. One third of the fire was grazing land for our cattle. We lost it all. We lost over 40 head of cattle, it was a big set back for the ranch.

It has really been hard for the mill. They have lots of business now but in a couple of years they are going to have nothing to log. The fire got most of tits fuel for the forest not being manage for the last 30-years. We now have no place to take our cattle. We got an evacuation level one at my grandma’s house. It was only one mile away and it was very scary. I went to the fire one day with my family it was very sad to see all the buitiful land, burnt. There were not all 40 dead cattle like 20 dead and the rest we had to ut down. Because of there shells on there feet were falling off. It was really sad for my dad and uncle. All the timber on our private ground was burnt. They were going to use that as a retirement fund. So that they didn’t have to take money from the ranch for the new generation. My sister Cheyenne my couisen Nicole, and I.

The Barry Point fire was very hard on our family and family ranch.
