Addis Chase Burgoyne

Addis Chase Burgoyne, 89, died of natural causes at the Lake District Hospital in Lakeview on Friday, Jan. 28, 2011.
Addis was born Sept. 21, 1921 in Jerome, Idaho to John W. and Nettie Irene (Bloomquist) Burgoyne.  He was the second of 5 children.
The family moved to Surprise Valley, Calif. in 1936.  He graduated from high school in Fort Bidwell, Calif.
He was drafted into the US Army in March of 1943 where he served almost three years as a diesel mechanic and heavy equipment operator during WWII.
He was married to Mildred Irene Hartlerode on Sept. 1, 1951 in Alturas, Calif. They raised their daughter, Paula and son Gus in Cedarville, Calif.
Addis worked building and maintaining roads, hauling  lumber and building houses in Surprise Valley.  Following his retirement, he enjoyed traveling, exploring the areas’ history and working on projects at home with his family.
Addis is survived by his wife Mildred; son and daughter-in-law Gus and Fawna Burgoyne; daughter and son-in-law Paula and Tom Lane; daughter Claudia Crawford; sister Norene McMullen; grandchildren Andrea Otley and husband Dusty, John and Daniel Lane, Madalyn, Alexis and Adin Burgoyne; great-grandchildren
Ira and Paxton Otley; numerous nieces and nephews.
Holy Rosary Services were held Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011 at the Ousley Osterman Huffstutter Funeral Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Cedarville.  The interment will follow at the family plot at the Fort Bidwell Cemetery with military honors provided by the Northern CA US Army Veterans Honor Guard.
Casket bearers are John Lane, Daniel Lane, Danny Burgoyne, Dusty Otley, Ed Hill, Audie McCombs, Randell Souders and Raymond Page.
