Lake County Admin. Asst. Denise Thorsted informed the Board of Commissioners recently that the legislature approved an additional $5 million for the Special Transportation Funds program.
Thorsted noted that this would mean an additional $30,000 available to Lake County for its senior and disabled transportation services. The Commissioners ultimately approved as a directive Thorsted’s submission of an application for the funds.
Lake County’s three partners for these transportation services include the Lake County Senior Citizens Association, the Inner Court Family Center and Southern Oregon Goodwill, she said.
Additionally, once the criteria are met for seniors and disabled citizens in need of transportation services, the general public is welcome to utilize the bus transport service, she said.
Oregon Department of Transportation administers the STF program, Thorsted said, and doesn’t want to see minimal use on the buses provided the primary purpose criteria is met.
