After going through some difficult economic times, Adel Satellite is staying in business.
For how long, owner Frank Villagrana, says, they don’t know, but he never intended to shut down.
“We’re going to open up the shop again, hoping I can keep it up forever,” he said. “But for the next twelve months, I think it’s going to work out.”
Villagrana has been in business for almost 30 years after making a large down payment that he would hate to walk away from.
The economic struggles Adel Satellite endured put Villagrana between a rock and a hard place. His company was not making money, he said, and he was struggling to compete with the other internet and satellite providers in town.
He’s been here so long, however, that he simply refuses to close down shop.
For a while, he moved from his office to working from home and through his cell phone.
Villagrana installs Dish Network utilities and satellite internet for free, but his prices are competitive. In addition, he also offers accessories at his in-store shop behind Jerry’s Restaurant.
“We’re doing okay now,” he said, “and we hope to keep it going for a long time.”
Villagrana will be in and out of the office doing installations, depending on how busy his days are.
The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Monday, July 15 for those who want to stop by, but most of his customers handle their business through the phone.
Adel Satellite operates in a 100-mile radius, servicing customers as far as that 100 miles will take him.
As of Monday, July 1, Adel Satellite has new brochures available to the public.
