Annual Labor Day Dash registration opens

The Mile High Striders are once again hosting the annual Lakeview Labor Day Dash at Lakeview High School’s Steninger Track.  The event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 31, and participants can register from 7:15 a.m to 7:40 a.m. at the event or pick up a pre-registration form at Howard’s Pharmacy, Holloway Photography, Back Yard Floral, or the Lake County Chamber of Commerce.

The Dash includes the 5K walk/run, a 4-person relay, an under-14 one-mile race, and a quarter-mile race for kids aged 2-8 years.  Awards will be given to the first male and female runners to return from the 5K walk/run, as well as the first male and female walkers.  The fastest male and female walkers and runners from each age division, 12 and under, 13-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50+ years will also be given individual awards.  All participants under 8 years will be given a dog-tag-like medal commemorating the event.

The relay event enters its fifth year this year, and requires 3 runners of any age who each run 1600 meters of the 5K course, with a fourth member 8 years old or younger running the final 200 meters.
