Lake County Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Lake County Examiner is running their annual Christmas Outdoor Lighting Decoration contest this year, offering three categories with cash prizes for house lighting displays.
Entries for the contest are due by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at the Chamber, located at 126 N. E St. or the Examiner at 739 N. 2nd St. in Lakeview. Judging will take place on Thursday, Dec. 19 between 6 and 9 p.m.
Entry forms can be picked up at the Chamber or look for a copy in this week’s Examiner or Wise Buys. Those that wish to enter must provide directions to the property in addition to their address, as judges will be driving to the location.
Houses must be within a 25-mile radius of Lakeview to be eligible for the contest. Only outside lighting and decorations will be judged, with categories of Most Unique, Most Traditional and Best Use of Space Available.
Entries will not be judged based on quantity of lights used, but by the three categories.
Each category will have a grand prize of $150, with an honorable mention prize of $50. Everyone with an entry will be awarded a certificate of participation.
Lawn ornaments and inflatable decorations will be included in the judging, but are not required. The contest is sponsored by Pacific Power, Surprise Valley Electric, the Lake County Examiner and the Lake County Chamber of Commerce.
