Arthur Waldemar Breckel

Arthur Waldemar Breckel, 92, passed away on Monday, Aug. 15, 2011.
Arthur was born Dec. 22, 1919 in Sheridan County (Anamoose), North Dakota to Otto Breckel and Paulina Schlag Breckel.
He married Joyce Amelia Knudtson on Sept. 13, 1947.
Arthur was a Army veteran of WWII, had worked for Great Northern Railroad in North Dakota and upon moving to Oregon, in 1953, began a career with the US Army Corps of Engineers.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
He is survived by son Rick Breckel of Mehama; daughter Suzette Breckel of Renton, Wash.; brothers Elmer Breckel of Lebanon, Hilbert Breckel of Oakridge, Reuben Breckel of Yuma, Ariz.; sister LaVina Breckel Hudson of Milton, Fla.; granddaughter Christina Bridge of Sublimity; great-grandchildren James and Hope Bridge of Sublimity.
A memorial service with military honors for Arthur Breckel was held on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011 at Stayton Christian Church, 189 Washington St. in Stayton.  A celebration of life was held directly after the memorial at the home of Arthur Breckel.
Remembrances may be made in Arthur’s memory to the Oregon Wildlife Heritage Foundation, P.O. Box 30406, Portland 97294-3406. These funds will be used to enhance waterfowl and upland game bird habitat at Summer Lake wildlife area.
