Attorney Rob Nichols appointed judge by governor

Gov. John Kitzhaber announced on Thursday, March 7, the appointment of Robert F. Nichols, Jr., to fill the vacancy on the Lake County Circuit Court left by former Judge Lane Simpson’s retirement.

Nichols, a shareholder in the Bogardus & Nichols, P.C. law practice, Nichols has practiced law in the county for the past 34 years. For eight years he served as the Lake County District Attorney and as counsel for Lake County. He also represented Lake County School District No. 7 and the City of Paisley.

“Mr. Nichols brings extremely diverse practice experience to the Lake County Circuit Court, including experience with civil litigation, domestic relations, business law and both criminal prosecution and defense,” said Gov. Kitzhaber, “making for a smooth transition for the circuit court. More importantly, Mr. Nichols brings a longstanding commitment to the community and the people of Lake County.”

Nichols graduated from Lakeview High School and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Oregon State University, and Doctor of Jurisprudence from Willamette University College of Law.
