Bill Shannon, 96, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013.
He was born Dec. 1, 1916.
Bill worked as head saw filer for several mills in Oregon and California and was very respected in his trade. He took much pleasure in teaching and helping younger people learn and be successful in the trade.
He always enjoyed owning a good car, always a Ford, and his pride and joy was a 1957 T-Bird that he showed and won numerous national awards. In his younger years, he owned and raced hard tops.
Bill was an honorable and loving man, always putting his family first. He leaves a huge void in our lives and he will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Nellie; daughters Pat of Eugene and Sharon of Redding, Calif.; grandsons Guy Gemmer, Steve Gemmer and Jay Gemmer; great-grandson Guy Gemmer, Jr.; great-granddaughter Brittney Gemmer;
The family is planning a celebration of life in the summer and the time and place will be announced at a later date.
