Bonnie Jean Hansen, 93, passed away Nov. 9, 2012 at the Lakeview Long Term Care Facility due to age related causes.
She was born on Dec. 9, 1918 in Prairie City to Dan and Faith Follett. She was the third child of a family of eight children.
She married Frank Hansen on Sept. 15, 1940 in Hermiston and they had five children. They moved to Lakeview in October of 1943. Frank passed away in 2006.
Mrs. Hansen was a stay at home mom until 1958 when she and Frank purchased Hiway Grocery in Lakeview. She ran the store while Frank continued driving truck.
Bonnie liked to grow flowers, sew clothes for her family, embroidery, hinting and fishing. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, playing bingo and card games. One of her favorite things was fixing the traditional Thanksgiving dinner for her family members and others who were welcome to attend.
Bonnie Jean is survived by her sons; Kenneth (Francine) of Portland and John (Vickie) of Lakeview Judy Jones (Darnell) of Pleasant Hill; daughters: Nancy Henderson of Spokane, Wash; Shirley DeMaris (Roger) of Bend; and sister Doris Klein of Puyallup, Wash; 16 grandchildren 41 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.
At Bonnie’s request no service will be held.
Contributions in Bonnie’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
