Bonnie Jean Hansen, 93, passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at the Lakeview Long Term Care Facility due to age related causes.
She was born Dec. 9, 1918 in Prairie City, to Dan and Faith Follett. She was the third child of a family of eight children.
She married Frank Hansen on Sept. 15, 1940 in Hermiston and they had five children. They moved to Lakeview in October 1943.
Mrs. Hansen was a stay-at-home Mom until 1958 when she and Frank purchased the Hiway Grocery in Lakeview. She ran the store while Frank continued driving truck.
Bonnie Jean liked to grow flowers, sew clothes for her family, embroidery, hunting and fishing. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, playing bingo and card games. One of her favorite things was fixing the traditional Thanksgiving dinner for her family members and others who were welcome to attend.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 2006; one great-grandson.
Bonnie Jean is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Kenneth and Francine of Portland and John and Vickie of Lakeview; daughters and sons-in-law Judy and Darrell Jones of Pleasant Hill and Shirley and Roger DeMaris of Bend; daughter Nancy Hendricks of Spokane, Wash.;sister Doris Klein of Puyallup, Wash.; 16 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; Four great-great-granddaughters; many nieces and nephews.
At Bonnie Jean’s request no service will be held.
Contributions in Bonnie Jean’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Desert Rose Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
