Brad Corbyt Roofener, 54, a resident of Bly, died Friday evening, June 14, 2013 at his brother’s home in Forest Grove.
Brad was born Sept. 30, 1958 in Stayton, the son of the late Wilbur James Roofener and Louise Elizabeth Webster. He was raised and received his education in the communities of Cherry Grove and Gaston, having been a graduate of Gaston High School Class of 1975.
He had worked as a truck driver/broker for BCR Transport in Portland, which he owned and operated for over 20 years, until he retired in 2009.
Brad had resided on his floating home on the Columbia river at Rogers Marina in Portland for 20 years, until 2009 when he moved to Bly, where he had resided since.
Among his special interests he enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling and entertaining friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Louise Roofener.
Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law Jim and Debbie Roofener of Forest Grove; brothers Bob Roofener of Cherry Grove and Doug Roofener of Madras; his sister and brother-in-law Sharon K. and David Sharp of Gaston; sister Terry A. Everett, of Pasco, Wash.; uncle Bill Webster of Camden, Mo.; aunts Doris Roofener of Scio and JoAnn Webster Wood of Yukon, Okla.; 17 nieces and nephews.
Open Air Cryptside Services were held on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Forest View Mausoleum, 1161 W. Pacific Ave. in Forest Grove, with the Rev. Richard E. Osburn, retired United Church of Christ Minister, Gaston.
The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
