Claude “Ed” Edward Morris, 90, died in Reno, Nev. on Monday, Aug. 29, 2011.
He was born to Claude and Sarah (Cox) Morris in Phoenix, Ariz. on June 12, 1911.
Ed grew up in the Phoenix area on a ranch. He dropped out of school in the eighth grade to work for his dad. During the early part of WWII he enlisted into the Army Air Corps and attained the rank of Warrant Officer 4 and flew C47’s during the war.
Following his discharge from the Army he worked as a heavy equipment operator and well driller in Northern California and Nevada.
On June 6, 1948 Ed and Helen Leniz were married in Winnemucca, Nev.
Ed had lived on his home place in Denio, Nev. for the past 50 years.
He was preceded in death by wife Helen S. Morris; daughter Lou Ellen Fink; brothers Donald and Wayne Morris and sisters Violet Plumb and Betty Conley.
Ed is survived by son and daughter-in-law Benjamin C. and Patty Morris of Lakeview; son-in-law Dale Fink: sister and son-in-law Sharon and Ernie Fuller of Albuquerque, N.M.: sister Rosalee Hatch of Chico, Calif.: grandchildren Shawn C. Morris, Barry J. Morris and Aileen K. Morris; numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held at Desert Rose Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011. Committal with military honors was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Desert Rose Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
