Claude Jack Moore, 86, of Christmas Valley died in La Grande on Monday, Nov. 21, 2011.
Jack was born to Claude and Nobia (Lee) Moore in Stapp, Okla. on March 5, 1925. He grew up on a ranch in Dixon, Calif. where he also received his education.
He enlisted into the Navy during World War II. Shortly after his discharge he married Edith Hertz on July 22, 1946 in Reno, Nev. They lived in the Sacramento, Calif. area until 1950 when they moved to Oregon. They lived in various places in Oregon before settling in Christmas Valley in 1979.
During most of his working years he followed the carpentry trade.
He enjoyed the great outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife Edith; parents; brothers Bill and Bob.
Jack is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Randy and Kathleen Moore of La Grande and Clint and Beverly Moore of La Pine; brother Donald Moore of Palermo, Calif.; sisters Bethel Gaskill, Joanne Wright, Patsy Horner and Sandra Kramer all of Woodland, Calif.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service was held at the Christmas Valley Community Center on Monday, Nov. 28, 2011. Committal was on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
