Colahan leads Paisley at state

Paisley couldn’t defend their state title in girls 1A 4×100 relay for the first time in three years after a third place finish at district, but the performance of Krysta Colahan more than made up for it at the state championship held at Hayward Field in Eugene May 22-23.

The Broncos sent five athletes to the state tournament, Nikolas Arfsten (high jump), Lizzie Hyde (high jump), Priscilla Norris (400-meters), Julia O’Leary (pole vault) and Colahan (long jump, triple jump). However conspicuously absent was the three-time state title winning relay team from Paisley, not qualifying at last week’s district tournament.

Arfsten failed to clear the opening high jump height of 5’06”, which matched his personal best that he set the previous weekend at the district tournament.

Hyde placed seventh in high jump, clearing 4’06”, but couldn’t match her personal best of 4’08” set earlier in the year in April to advance to the next round.

Norris placed eighth in the heat and finals in the 400-meters, reaching the podium with a finals time of 66.09 seconds.
