A community theater production based on the classic animated Walt Disney film “Beauty and the Beast” will open on Friday, June 6, and continue with a Saturday, June 7, performance.
Both performances will be held in the Daly Middle School auditorium. Doors will open on both nights at 6:30 p.m., with the play starting at 7 p.m.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 years and under.
Performing in lead roles are Candace and Darwin Johnson as Bella and The Beast, while Angie and Tom Schneider are cast as Lumiere and Mrs. Potts.
Other cast members include Diana Banks, Danielle Thames, Klint Rhea, Kamaryn Schneider, Sarah Bowersox, Stacie Jones, Jonquil Kasbohm, Erica Bray, Kaley Schneider, Jade Kasbohm, Denver Johnson, Porter Johnson, Parker Johnson, Emrey Johnson, Jaila Jackson and Timothy Banks.
The production will be about an hour long in total length and is sponsored by the Lake Arts Council.
This play marks the first such community-based production in nearly 20 years, according to its coordinator, Lakeview High School music teacher Sarah Davis.
The play is a musical, mixing traditional acting as well as singing components.
The cast has been rehearsing three times a week.
Funding sources for the production include the National Endowment for the Arts, Lake County Cultural Coalition, Oregon Arts Commission, U.S. Bank, Meyer Memorial Trust, Pacific Power Foundation, The Collins Foundation and private local tax-deductible donations.
