Following Sheriff’s Lt. Paul Havel’s introduction of a Lake County identification policy for the courthouse, approved during the board of commissioners’ work session on Tuesday, Jan. 22, they discussed over the implementation for the new security measure.
Effective after Sunday, Feb. 10, employees, occupants and visitor/contractors will all wear visible identification cards that exhibit their position within the building to the public. It will also be helpful to county employees to identify unknown workers within the courthouse.
The implementation will be a part of new employee orientation and all run through the Sheriff’s Department, which will handle the picture taking and distribution of the IDs. According to the delivered plan, “County employee cards will be blue, occupant cards will be green and visitor/contractor cards will be red. This designation will allow all county employees the ability to identify other authorized persons in a county facility in the event of an emergency or identify persons in restricted areas.”
