Lake County’s Board of Commissioners recently approved establishment of a position that will be shared by Lake County Community Justice and the County’s facilities manager.
Recognizing the need for community service work crew leaders as well as a part-time maintenance technician, Lake County Business Mgr. Jay Collins presented the proposed shared position to the Commissioners at their Tuesday, Sept. 3, work session.
The Commissioners approved the position during their regular session held on Wednesday, Sept. 4, in Silver Lake.
Collins noted that the position would serve in a line staff capacity and would not be a supervisory role. He suggested a three percent increase in the position’s wages for work crew leader purposes, versus the five percent suggested by union officials.
Half of the position’s salary would be paid out by the Lake County Community Justice department’s budget, he said, while the remainder would be funded through the facilities management budget.
The Lake County Commissioners will next meet at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17, for a work session, followed by their regular session at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
