Cowboy Poet to perform at libraries

Cowboy Poet Jessica Hedges will perform in  Lakeview, Paisley and Christmas Valley over April 22 through the 23.

Cowboy Poet Jessica Hedges will perform in Lakeview, Paisley and Christmas Valley over April 22 through the 23.

Jessica Hedges will headline the annual National Cowboy Poetry Week, performing in Lakeview, Paisley, and Christmas Valley April 22-23.

Hedges will perform at the Lakeview Library in the community meeting room on Tuesday, April 22, at 7 p.m., the Paisley Community Hall on Wednesday, April 23, at 7 p.m., and at the Christmas Valley Boosters Hall on Thursday, April 23, at 7 p.m.

The National Cowboy Poetry Gathering is a weeklong celebration of western culture, covering poetry readings, concerts, photography and more in communities across the country.

Hedges won the 2010 Academy of Western Artists Cowboy Poetry CD of the Year award and the 2010 Columbia River Cowboy Gathering People’s Choice Award for her first CD, “History in the Barn.” Her second CD, “Buckaree Woman Unconfined” was released in 2013.

Following Jessica Hedges’ performances there will be an open mic for other cowboy poets to also participate in the festivities surrounding Cowboy Poetry Week. For more information contact Library Director Amy Hutchinson at 541-947-6019, or visit your local library.
