Two basketball games for the North Lake Cowboys brought them no successes last week.
The first was an away game against the Gilchrist Grizzlies, which North Lake lost 34-52.
The second game of the week was a home game at North Lake against the Butte Falls Loggers, which North Lake lost 33-46.
Matt Henkel lead the scoring for the North Lake team in the first game, with 12 points.
Ethan Murphy led the team in scoring during the second game with 8 total points.
In both games North Lake lost momentum in the fourth quarter, according to their coach, Brian Baker.
“We are improving in our offense, and I’m pleased about that,” said Baker.
He added that the boys need to be able to locate open spots in the opposing defense and exploit them.
“Sometimes we settle for jumpers when we should be taking it to the basket strong,” Baker noted.
In their second game, the group also had problems with fouls in the later half of the game.
“We committed too many fouls and 12 of their 17 points were from the free-throw line,” said Baker.
“We settled for jump shots and not attacking the basket,” he added.
On Wednesday, Jan. 15, North Lake boys will be playing Paisley’s basketball team in Paisley, traveling again to face Gilchrist on Gilchrist’s home turf in Klamath County on Saturday, Jan. 18.
North Lake 2 11 17 4 — 34
