In a heated battle in Lake County, the North Lake Cowgirls beat the Paisley Lady Broncos in a Mountain Valley League girl’s season finale on Saturday, Feb. 15. Both teams will now advance to play in the district tournament. North Lake’s Kendra Murphy scored 15 points and contributed 19 rebounds for the Cowgirls. Murphy was the only player to score in the double digits out of both teams. Injuries were aplenty for the North Lake Girls. Molly Phillips suffered a potential season ending knee injury, and also Karrah Davidson and Kendra Murphy collided, taking Davidson out of the remainder of the game.
Jessica Arrington scored nine points for the Lady Broncos. Mattee Vickerman scored eight points, three of which was the only three-point goal for the Lady Broncos.
On Tuesday, Feb. 11 the North Lake Cowgirls took on Trinity Lutheran. Trinity took advantage of their free throw attempts making 13 of their 22 free-throw attempts pulling away from North Lake in the second half. The Cowgirls lost in a 50-32, Mountain Valley League game.
Kendra Murphy scored eight points, had 14 rebounds, six blocked hosts and three steals for the Cowgirls, despite playing just 17 minutes because of foul trouble. Noelle Fine had four assists for North Lake.
Triad outscored North Lake 15-1 in the third quarter, Kendra Murphy scored 20 points contributed 29 rebounds and three blocked shots. Junior Jade Stockton and Mollie Phillips both scored three-point goals for the Cowgirls.
North Lake played Rogue Valley Adventist in a playoff game Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 5 p.m. Results weren’t available at press time.
