North Lake’s Cowgirls and Cowboys met their opponents on the basketball court Friday and Saturday, Jan. 3 and 4 with equal success.
The girl’s basketball team won against Central Christian’s team, 31-11 and triumphed over Paisley with a score of 30-20.
According to their coach, Tracey Fivecoat, North Lake’s girls seem to be coming together well as a team. “Our cutters are cutting through and hitting their opponents,” said Fivecoat. She added that the girls have also gotten good about working the ball around until it can get to an open person.
Still, because of injuries over the past few games, she’s had to move members of the team into different roles to fill the gaps. “With Kelly Brown out for the rest of the season with a torn ACL, we’re moving different people around trying to see where the best fit is for the team,” said Fivecoat.
Brown injured her knee, tearing an important ligament known as the anterior cruciate ligament or ACL.
Either way, the coach is trying to see where everyone fits with the team, and had been changing their lineup from game to game. “Some games we go with more of a ‘big man’ lineup instead of guards. Karrah Davidson plays a big part in that, she will play guard and also post position,” said Fivecoat.
