Cowgirls dreams of state extinguished

On Tuesday, Feb 18 the North Lake Cowgirls hosted Rogue Valley Adventist Academy and came out victorious, 43-35 over the Red Tail Hawks.

Senior Karrah Davidson contributed six points for the Cowgirl.  Freshman Kendra Murphy put up 26 points for the Cowgirls, contributed 27 rebounds as well as five blocked shots.

On Friday, Feb. 21, the North Lake Cowgirls traveled to Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) to take on Hosanna Christian, but fell 33-16.

The Cowgirls had 26 turnovers, and Hosanna took full advantage of those outscoring North Lake 19-2 off those mistakes.  North Lake was missing senior point guard, Kelli Brown to an injury and Kendra Murphy played while injured, but still managed to score nine of the Cowgirl’s points for the game, and had a game high with 17 rebounds.

Jade Stockton drained the only 3-point goal for the Cowgirls.

Saturday, Feb. 22 the Cowgirls battled Trinity Lutheran at OIT for the third-place game for the Mountain Valley League, but the Saints managed to pull out the win, in a 46-41 game, which advanced the Saints to the state tournament over the Cowgirls.

The Cowgirls trailed all game but Murphy made a shot with three minutes left in the game to tie up the game at 38.  The Saints managed to hit free throws later on in the match, which sealed their victory over the Cowgirls.

Murphy led North Lake with 16 points, 19 rebounds and four blocked shots.
