Danny Edward McManus

Danny Edward McManus, 71,  died on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at the Lake District Hospital.

Danny was born to Edward Joseph and Julia Ann (Kohel) McManus in Klamath Falls on Dec. 10, 1940. He grew up at Willow Ranch and attended school in Alturas, Calif. until his senior year when he moved to Corning, Calif. where he graduated from high school.

Danny served honorably in the U.S. Army from Jan. 5, 1961 until Dec. 19, 1962. He tried his hand at logging, working for the Forest Service and the Sheet Rock Plant in Gerlock, Nev. before going to work for the Department of Veteran’s Affairs Hospital in Roseburg in the maintenance department. He retired from the hospital in 1995 after 25 years of service and moved to New Pine Creek in 1996.

He loved fishing, enjoyed woodworking and never got tired of visiting with anyone who would lend an ear.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Gene McManus; sister Sylvia Murphy.

Danny is survived by wife Peggy McManus of New Pine Creek; son and daughter-in-law Ed and Myra McManus of Roseburg; son Patrick McManus of Coos Bay; sisters Shirley Tuhalski of Redding, Calif. and Alice West of Sacramento, Calif.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Contributions in the memory of Danny may be made to the Lake District Hospital, 700 S. J St., Lakeview 97630 or American Cancer Society, 2350 Oakmont Way #200, Eugene  97401-6108 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Desert Rose Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

  1. We just found out about Danny’s passing.We are so sorry to hear this.We have not been in touch for years ,but allways have had fond memories of him and his family when we lived in Empire,Nevada.
