Donald Dean “Cowboy” Rector

Donald Dean “Cowboy” Rector, 80, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 in Lakeview.
Cowboy was born Aug. 31, 1930 in Lamar, Mo. to Delbert and Opal Rector.
As a teenager he became a cowboy and followed the rodeo circuit until he joined the army and was stationed in Germany. Following his military service he lived in many areas of the United States where he drove truck and operated heavy equipment . He moved to the Lakeview area 35 years ago and lived here most of the time where he worked for the state operating equipment.
He married Fay Tolin Aug. 8, 1980 in Riddle.
He was an active member of the VFW and a life member of the Eagles Lodge where he served as secretary.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Wayne Rector and Jack Rector.
Survivors include his wife Fay of Lakeview; son William Ray Rector of Idaho; daughters Deana Miles of California and Carol St. Jean of Idaho; stepsons Richard Douthit of Idaho, Ronnie LaClair of California, Lawrence LaClair of Lakeview and Russell LaClair of California; stepdaughters Sandra Kay Smith of California, Connie Lynn Covington of Oklahoma, Lynette LaClair of Canada and Mary Mullen of Lakeview; 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
At his request no service will be held. Inurnment will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Lakeview.
Ousley Osterman Huffstuter Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
