Doris Ann Lucas, 78, died in Klamath Falls on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013.
Doris was born on June 10, 1935 in El Paso, Texas to James and Doris Ann Coumbe Butler. They later moved to California and she grew up in Southern California. She married Donald Lucas on Nov. 6, 1954 in Whittier, Calif. They lived in several location in California including Santa Cruz. In 1989 they retired and moved to Lakeview where they bought a ranch.
Doris was a member of the Episcopal Church in Alturas, Calif. where she served on the altar society. She was passionate about genealogy , being well known in the Poindexter Decedents Assoc. She also loved horses, raising POA, Quarter and Thoroughbred. She enjoyed leather-craft and arts and crafts especially at Christmas. She was the co-founder of Shasta Valley Buckaroos and established a pony club in Yreka. She also enjoyed teaching adults to read.
She is survived by her husband Donald of Klamath Falls; son Phillip Lucas of Lebanon; sons and daughters-in-law Kenneth and Joyce Lucas of Pendleton, Steven and Magdalena Lucas of Klamath Falls, Larry and Teresa Lucas of Lakeview; brother and sister-in-law James and Betty Butler of Phoenix, Ariz; sister and brother-in-law Robin and Les Daviet of Laveen, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A Family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in July. A private cremation was held at Eternal Hills. Eternal Hills is in charge of the arrangements.
