The Lakeview Gooselake Fraternal Order of Eagles will host a tri-tip barbeque Thursday, Aug. 29, at the Eagles Lodge to provide a chance for locals and guests to get together for food and mutual camaraderie before the big weekend demands their full attention.
The fest will begin at 6 p.m. and continue until the food is gone.
Cooks known for their outstanding dishes will provide the nourishment. Arizona Bill Dungan is preparing the meat. Janet Moulton and/or LuAnn Anderson will cook up the baked beans.
Floyda and Dale Sauer will concoct their locally famous coleslaw. Mel Gonzales will bake up the rolls.
CeCe Montgomery will prepare her well-known peach cobbler. The meal costs $12.
“Everybody gets very busy during the weekend and it is hard to find time to visit,” said Eagles Worthy Pres. Lonny Schadler. “We want people to take a little time on Thursday before things get hectic to have a good meal, maybe a beverage and time to visit with friends before we all have to go to work making Round-Up 2013 memorable.”
Auxiliary Madam Pres. Mary Rogers seconded that idea and added that she knew some people were already working on Thursday with exhibit judging and the swine classes.
We want people to be safe and not have a close encounter of the bad kind with local law enforcement. We provide a place away from the noise, dust and hectic activity of the fairgrounds and we will see you get home safely.”
