Earl Ellsworth Rogers

Earl Ellsworth Rogers, 92, died at the Lake District Hospital Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011.
Earl was born in Prowers County, Colo. near the town of Holly to Elmer and Rena Steward Rogers.
The family moved to Louisiana and following graduation from the 8th grade Earl hopped a freight train headed west to become a cowboy ending up in the Elko, Nev. area.  He later moved to New Mexico to log with his brothers.  The brothers later headed to Washington to log.  As they stopped in New Pine Creek to get gas they met the logging boss at Willow Ranch, Calif. who suggested they stay and log there.
Earl was honorably discharged from the US Army as a sergeant on Sept. 10, 1945.
He married Jean Vineyard on June 26, 1962 in Winnemucca, Nev.  The couple ranched in Adel until Jean’s death June 9, 2003.  Earl continued to ranch there until he died.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; wife Jean; brothers Vernon, Thomas and Bert; sisters Hazel Pearson and Marrietta Clark.
He is survived by: his son and daughter-in-law Joe and Martishia of Vya, Nev.; sister and brother–in-law Carrie and Bing Conway in Texas; four grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life Service was held on Friday, Feb. 18, at the Adel Community School Hall.   The VFW Layne Clifton Post 4070 participated in the services. A private family interment took place at the Adel Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John O’Keeffe Frank Cahill, Joe Cahill, Bill Cleland, Sam Steward and George Shine. Honorary pallbearers were Scott Steward, Lonny Schadler and Tom Lane.

Ousley Osterman Huffstutter Funeral Chapel had charge of the arrangements.
