Lake County’s Board of Commissioners recently addressed topics related to the ongoing transition from the former Commission on Children and Families to the governor’s Early Learning Council mandate.
During their Wednesday, Oct. 16, regular session, Commissioner Kestner accepted an appointment to serve as the county’s representative on the Early Learning Council.
The county recently approved an agreement with the Douglas County Education Service District to serve as part of their ELC hub, which will serve as the fiscal agent through which state funds are received.
The county additionally approved an amendment to the already approved Early Learning Center Hub agreement.
The amendment allows for the county to continue receiving funds for continuation of services contracted with varied providers during the transition from the former Commission on Children and Families agency into the new ELC Hub collaboration format.
This amendment reflects $41,332 of interim funds coming directly to the county during this transition phase.
