Elma Irene Branch

Elma Irene Branch, 92, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011  in Milwaukie.
Elma was born on Sept. 13, 1918 in New Pine Creek, Calif. to Earl William and Thelma Ruth (Taylor) Butler. She graduated from Modoc High School in Alturas, Calif. in 1937 and married John W. Branch in Reno, Nev. on June 10, 1937.
Elma enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and walking. Canning was a big part of her summers. In her early years she was known for often catching her limit, fishing on the Chewaucan River. She was a member of the Paisley Sunshine Club and Paisley Methodist Church since 1946 where she served as treasurer for about 30 years. She also volunteered with the Lake District Hospital Auxiliary for a few years and helped with the bingo games weekly.
Elma was preceded in death by her husband John;  daughter Glenda Branch.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Bob Stehn of Milwaukie ; brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Elsie Butler of Philomath; sister and brother-in-law Joy and Glenn Mahan of Lafayette, Calif.;  grandchildren Mark Stehn and wife Melissa of McMinnville, Julie Dowhaniuk and husband Ron of Milwaukie  and Tammy Steffens and husband Dannie of Sherwood; great-grandchildren Matthew and Sarah Stehn, Blake and Brandon Kelley, Christopher and Patrick Dowhaniuk, Tanner, Hannah and Gracie Steffens.
A Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 at the Paisley Community Center in  Paisley. Interment will be held at the Paisley Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Desert Rose Funeral Chapel.
