Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 4, Lakeview Ministries is offering ‘Healing Room’ prayer times at the Gathering Place, 3 N. F St. in Lakeview every Tuesday.
Jim and JoDell Mitchell are organizing the prayers, training others to help those who feel a need for healing in their lives. Sessions will run from 10 a.m. to noon and from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with no appointment necessary.
Currently, there are about 15 others who will work in teams of three to pray for those that come in during each period. “People will enter in the front door and sign up. Everything is confidential,” said Jim.
Additionally, they will ask what concerns brought each person in, as well as their name, address and age.
Prayers will specifically focus around healing, both immediate and long-term. The Mitchells say they believe that God embraces medical healing, but can still work miracles in people’s lives.
After each person is led back, they will be asked if a healing has occurred and if they are willing to share their testimony anonymously. “We encourage them to come back if they are healed later,” added Jim.
All of the process is free and the Mitchells say they welcome anyone from the community, churchgoers and non-churchgoers alike. “All they need to know is that they want prayer for sickness. Everyone is welcome as many times as they want,” said Jim.
