Gladys Elizabeth Clark, 93, passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 of natural causes in Sheridan, Wyo. Gladys was born March 29, 1920 in Glens Ferry, Idaho to Howard Eckersell and Sarah Gold Eckersell. She was the last survivor of eight children. She was the mother of two sons, Jeffery and (Skeeter) Dan Clark III. Sadly her son Skeeter passed away last year.
Gladys graduated from high school in Rexberg, Idaho and attended Henninger Business School in Salt Lake City, Utah.
At the time of her marriage to Dan E. Clark Jr. she was employed with the Bureau of Reclamation in Idaho Falls as the secretary to the project engineer of the Palisades Dam, when it was still in it’s planning stages. After they were married she and Dan managed the Railroad Ranch in Island Park, Idaho and later the ZX Ranch in Paisley. They moved to Sheridan, Wyo. in 1965.
Gladys enjoyed volunteering. She delivered Meals on Wheels for several years and spent over 1000 hours working in the gift shop at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. She served on many local boards including Civic Theater Guild, Hospital Auxiliary and the Sheridan Country Club Woman’s Golf Assoc. A life-long painter she especially enjoyed her art classes at the Sheridan college. She had many hobbies, she loved to bowl, play golf at the country club and especially loved to play cards.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband; son Dan (Skeeter); brothers; sisters; grandson Tommy.
She is survived by her son and daughter-on-law Jeffery and Shirley of Ogden, Utah; step-daughter Peggy Cottom of California; six grandchildren; 17 great-grand-children.
Cremation has taken place. Respecting Gladys’ wishes, there will not be a memorial service.
