A series of shooting contests will highlight a fun day planned at the Bullard Canyon Shooting Range on Saturday, June 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Warner Mountain Gun Club are the organizers behind the event, which will feature a raffle drawing for a 223 Rifle with scope and 50/50 raffle to support the Disabled Veteran Track Chair Fund.
Events scheduled include a balloon shoot for kids, one-shot king competition, a ladies only shoot, a hot shot title for fire fighters, and 22 rim fire and center fire 200-yard rifle contest.
Pre-event registration costs for each event are $3, or $2 for the One Shot King contest.
Eye and ear protection are required, and participants are encouraged to bring their own rifles, though limited equipment will be available for use courtesy of the Warner Mountain Gun Club.
A special firing demonstration of a replica .45-caliber Civil War-era Gatling Gun will also take place. Members of Lake County Search and Rescue will be selling hamburgers and hot dogs with refreshments available.
Warner Mountain Gun Club has been active since 2006, with approximately 175 members.
A $25 annual membership allows members to use the range and bring family and friends.
The Bullard Canyon Shooting Range is also used for law enforcement training and youth and hunter education programs. The club holds six organized shoots a year and stresses safety, with training and safety programs available for novices to experts.
