Harvey James McLain

Harvey James McLain, 78,  died at the Lake District Hospital on Sunday, March 13, 2011.
He was born to Homer and Alma (Tuttle) McLain in Newport, Wash. on Feb. 14, 1933.
He moved to New Pine Creek in 1941. He received his elementary education at Kelly Creek School and attended Lakeview High School. He volunteered for the draft after his junior year and served honorably in the Army from March 20, 1953 to March 19, 1955.
Harvey worked for the Willow Ranch Sawmill until 1958, when he began his career with the U. S. Forest Service, retiring on March 13, 1988 as the Forest Timber Sales Administrator.
Harvey married Louise Venator on July 4, 1958 and they were divorced in 1973. He married Margaret “Marge” Chilson on Dec. 16, 1976. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, his horses and singing. He was a real animal lover and was an expert fly fisherman along with being a well known fishing equipment repairman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Margaret on Aug. 31, 2007; Five brothers; one sister.
Harvey is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Tracy and Becky McLain of Lakeview, and James and Shanon McLain of Longview, Wash.; daughter and son-in-law Susan and Dan Lee of Longview, Wash.;  brother Gail McLain of Tumwater, Wash.; sister Pearl Lightle of New Pine Creek; grandchildren, Richard, Patrick, Lacy and Brody McLain, Alicia and Kristina Lee and Nels and Jacob McLain; Six great-grandchildren;   numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Lakeview Faith Center, 324 N. M St. on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 11 a.m. with committal at the New Pine Creek Cemetery. A pot luck dinner will be at the Church following the services. Military honors will be provided by the Layne Clifton V.F.W. Post #4070.

Desert Rose Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
