The Lakeview Honkers defeated the Rogue River Chieftains on Tuesday, Jan. 28, in an 81-78 matchup for the Southern Cascade League.
Landen Lampman had a 30 point game, making six 3-point shots for the Honkers, also making eight of ten shots from the free-throw line. On his heels was team mate Lane Hadley with a total of 25 points, along with 12 rebounds. Logan Staub had 11 points as well as 11 rebounds for the Honkers. “We were down by 10 going into the second half, we came back and played much better and managed to pull off the win,” commented head coach Cody Blair.
On Friday, Jan. 31, the Honkers played for a large and loud local crowd.
“It was great to have such a big turn out, the crowd was great,” said Blair. Due to a massive 25-point effort in the fourth period the Honkers secured the win over the Illinois Valley Cougars. Lakeview was trailing in the fourth but turned the game around and picked up the win.
Lane Hadley scored 26 points for the Honkers with Landen Lampman adding another 10. The Honkers faced St. Mary’s on Tuesday, Feb. 4, to battle for the second place standing in the league. The Honkers then travel to Bonanza for a non-league game this Friday.
