Lakeview’s softball team lost for the third time this season to Rogue River, this time on its home field. The two teams faced each other on Tuesday, April 30, and Rogue River delivered a costly blow to the Honkers’ playoff chances with a 14-9 loss.
Both teams appeared to gingerly trot out the gate, as Lakeview led after one inning, 1-0. Then things got ugly for the Honkers as Rogue River rattled off 3 runs in the second inning.
“We had a couple errors that gave them a couple more runs,” said head coach Jackie Robinson. “And they had some timely hits.”
Offense was a problem all game as the Honkers went four innings and registered a meager 2 runs in that span. They didn’t lack for hits, having nine in the game. Amanda Arcularius, Mandi Brooks, and Jessica Alves all had two hits apiece, with Brooks netting two RBI and Arcularius one RBI.
