A late surge by Lakeview High School Varsity baseball came up one run short in a furious seventh inning rally, losing at Rogue River, 6-5.
Cody Hamilton had a big day for the Honkers, going 2-for-3 at the plate and pitching four innings, tallying eight strikeouts. Early errors led to a big deficit to overcome, Rogue River scoring five of its six runs in the first two innings thanks in part to five LHS errors on the day.
The Honkers rebounded in the third inning, tacking two runs on the board, but Rogue added one more in the fifth, which proved to be the deciding score.
Facing their final three outs Lakeview put three runs on the board in the seventh with the tying and go-ahead runs on base, but pitcher Kollen Roohr took the mound with one out and struck out two batters in a row to seal the victory. Roohr also hit a triple in the game.
