This past summer the lack of adequate ventilation in the County Jail was brought to our attention and the attention of our County Commissioners.
Now we are reading in the paper that the Commissioners were informed on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 that the heating system is inadequate and that this problem “. . . has been the subject of several agenda items in Commissioner meeting” and that “During the cold snap we issued all our extra blankets and it was still wasn’t enough.” We are told that the showers also have constant plumbing leaks and that the kitchen fixtures are outdated.
These necessities need to be corrected as soon as possible, especially with the availability of Ruby Pipeline dollars. It is inhumane to have it any other way.
Sheriff McDonald needs to move ahead with the repairs and our County Commissioners need to provide the funding.
