Jack Maurice Damuth

Jack Maurice Damuth, 83 died at his Lakeview home Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011.
Jack was born June 24, 1927 in Villisca, Iowa to Sam and Esther (Johnson) Damuth.
His family sold the farm and moved to Los  Angeles, Calif. in 1936.  Jack quit school and joined the US Navy to fight in WWII at the age of 16.  Following the war he worked on and managed ranches.
He met and married Alene Scott in 1948.  Jack and Alene worked and managed ranches, which brought them to Bly with their three children in 1965.  In 1970 they moved to Lakeview to manage the Open A Hereford Ranch until their retirement in 1995.
Jack’s life was full of family, work and friends.  His life consisted of following his kids and grandchildren through 4-H, sports and rodeos.  Jack loved his job and could not wait to go back to work the following day.  He hated to quit at night ; no one loved cattle and horses more.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Esther; sisters Iva Lee Crandall and Eva Joe LeFebvre.
Survivors include his wife Alene of Lakeview; son and daughter-in-law Rand and Patty Damuth; son Matt Damuth; daughter and son-in-law Prairie and Bill Plumb all of Lakeview; grandchildren Rainie Perdue in North Carolina, Justin Mills in Wyoming, Sam Damuth of Grants Pass,  Matt Damuth in Alabama, Clay, Cole and Cord Damuth of Lakeview;  great-grandson Fletcher Maurice  Damuth.  He also leaves behind his last horse “Bo.”
At the request of the family public services will not be held.  Please remember him as he was, a happy loving man.
