James Sell Moore, 99, died at the Lake District Hospital Thursday March 27, 2014 following a brief illness.
Jim was born to James H. and Hulda L. (Sell) Moore Oct. 23, 1914 in Los Angeles, Calif. where he grew up and worked most of his life.
Jim had a passion for vehicles, and became a long-haul truck driver for Hasberic and Safeway. He also ran vacation cottages at Lake Tahoe, Calif. for many years with his sister, Peggy Moore. Jim moved to Fort Bidwell, Calif. in the mid 1950’s.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing and restoring vintage jeeps. He was a lifetime member of the NRA.
He was the last surviving member of his family.
James was an honorable and generous person.
He was “adopted” by the Lewis family in 1994 and he became one of their closest friends. He was a genuine gentleman of the old school. He will be deeply missed by those who were fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his caregivers, Bessie Lewis and her daughter Joan Kahler of Lakeview. Private burial took place at the Fort Bidwell Cemetery.
