Joseph Frank “Joe” Russo

Joseph Frank “Joe” Russo, 56, of New Pine Creek died peacefully at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend on Sunday, June 24, 2012 with his family at his side.
Joe was born to Frank and Phyllis (Colontone) Russo in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Oct. 20, 1955. He lived in Brooklyn until he enlisted into the Marine Corps in March 1972. His service included combat in Viet Nam and was honorably discharged in March 1974.
Joe and Robin VanLoan were married in Hancook, N.Y. on Feb. 29, 1976.
After settling in Oregon, he worked numerous jobs, but his most enjoyable position was with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Joe was an avid outdoors man, who thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Music held an important place in his life and singing for his family has brought both he and his family a lot of pleasure. A favorite pastime for Joe was spending time with his grandchildren.
Joe was a very good man who was dearly loved by his family and will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Louis.
He is survived by wife Robin of New Pine Creek; daughters Kara Chytka of Aumsville, CarolAnn Russo of Lakeview, Angela Russo of Lakeview and Julieanne of New Pine Creek; six grandsons; two granddaughters.
No public services are planned. Interment will be in the Eagle Point National Cemetery with military honors.
Contributions in Joe’s memory may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 362 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis Tenn. 38105 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Desert Rose Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
