Lake County’s annual Junior Rodeo is coming Saturday, Aug. 9 to the Lake County Fairgrounds, with registration closing on Friday, Aug. 1 for events.
This year’s junior rodeo will include all of the normal events such as barrel racing, pull bending, goat tying, roping, mutton busting and more, but events will begin at 9 a.m. with team sorting and continue straight through rather than previous years where events began at noon.
Registration for events varies depending on age. For Pee-wees (ages 4-7) the cost is $10 per event, for Juniors (8-10) and Intermediates (11-13) it is $20 per event, and Seniors (14-18) are charged $25 per event. Rough stock events are a $35 entry fee. Registration is available online at www.lakeviewjuniorrodeo.weebly.com, via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or at Washington Federal Bank at 125 N. E St. in Lakeview. Complete rules for the event are available at the website.
This year’s junior rodeo is being held in memory of Pat Gage and Mel Young. Englehart, Graham, Greenfield ranches and Larry and Diana Hansen will be providing cattle and goats, and the Havely ranch out of Redmond will provide rough stock.
There is no fee for attending the junior rodeo this year. Registration opens at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, with events starting at 9 a.m.
