The Lady Honkers were victorious against the Cascade Christian Challengers on Tuesday, Feb. 11. In a 40-34 victory the Honkers scored 10 points in every quarter. Delaney Hall scored 11 points, 12 rebounds, and six steals and three assists for the Honkers, while Amanda Arcularius contributed 21 points, and Tori Crumrine had 12 rebounds. Carley Cahill had 10 rebounds. Lakeview had a 20-19 lead over the Challengers going into the second half, and continued to lead through the fourth quarter.
On Friday, Feb. 14 the Lady Honkers dominated the court in all four quarters against the Rogue River Chieftains. In the last regular game of the Southern Cascade League the Honkers claimed a 70-21 victory. The Honkers celebrated their senior night congratulating Rachel Leal and Madison Mathews on their last regular season home game.
This win brought the Honkers a co-champion league title with St. Mary’s.
Lakeview started their commanding lead in the first quarter and continued to dominate on the court throughout the game. Going into the second half Lakeview was ahead 32-10. By the end of the third quarter the Honkers had more than doubled the score of the Chieftains.
Delaney Hall had the game-high scoring with 20 points for Lakeview, who had five players with at least seven points for the game. Crumrine contributed seven points, Arcularius scored eight points and Katherine McKenzie scored nine points.
The Lady Honkers basketball team is ranked seventh in the state with a record of 8-2 within conference play and an overall record of 10-6.
They travel to St. Mary’s on Wednesday, Feb. 19, for a play-off game to determine standing for state play.
