Lake County Desert Cruisers hosted the annual Cash Bash races on Saturday, July 6, and Sunday, July 7.
Over 19 racers showed up on both days as they came from Winnemucca, Fallon, Newberg, Lakeview, Susanville, Medford, and Orvada to put their money on the dash in hopes of earning the big bucks.
The cost of entry was $35 per racer. Saturday was a combined points-cash race, where the high point winners also earned the cash prizes. Chuck and Deb Giordano of the Giordano Ranch and Don and Jeannie Merten of Merten’s Repair donated the money for Saturday’s winners, which paid out the top 3.
The Super Pro winner for Saturday was Greg Randolph of Lakeview, earning $250, and the second place winner was Jeff Lillibridge, earning $150.
The Pro winner for Saturday was Jon Ruff of Central Point earning $200, with Jesse Alexander of Lakeview as the runner-up taking second place
and the cash prize of $100.
Bill Hagen of Newberg took 1st place in the Sportsman competition earning $200, and was followed by Phil Elder of the Desert Cruisers, who took second place and took home $100.
Sunday had two separate competitions, the point races and the pro tree races.
The Desert Cruisers donated the money to the winners of Sunday’s competitions.
The next Desert Cruisers event will be the Wally Race held on Saturday, Aug. 17, and Sunday, Aug. 18.
