Lake County Historical Society will host its annual no-host dinner at the Lakeview Elks Lodge on Saturday, May 18.
Cocktails will be served starting at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. The public is welcome to attend. Reservations for the event are requested by Tuesday, May 14. On the menu is pork tenderloin for $18 or Thai sweet chicken for $17. The gratuity is included in the price.
Serving as a guest speaker for this year’s dinner is Stephen R. Mark of Fort Klamath, who has served as Crater Lake National Park and Oregon Caves historian for 25 years.
Mark is slated to provide a talk about Capt. Frank B. Sprague, stationed at Fort Klamath from 1865 to 1868. Also up for discussion will be Major Drew’s reconnaissance of 1864, which is likely the first description of the Lakeview vicinity, which Sprague visited several times in an attempt to promote settlement of the area.
