Jim and Dorothy Ogle, of Lakeview, celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary at a family celebration over Memorial Day at Camp Sherman.
Jim married Dorothy Withers on April 11, 1948, at the Episcopal Church in Lakeview.
Dorothy is from Paisley, and graduated in Home Economics from Oregon State University where she was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honorary. She spent many years as a substitute teacher at Lakeview Senior High School and as an Art Teacher at Union School. An accomplished artist, she was a founding member of the Lake County Artists who managed exhibits in the Lake County Court House lobby for many years.
Jim operates the Ogle ranch in the New Idaho District which has been in the family for over 100 years. A graduate of OSU with a degree in Agricultural Engineering, Jim completed officer –training programs at Indiana’s Purdue University, and Columbia and Cornell in New York before serving as the captain of a World War II minesweeper. Jim served as a Lake County Commissioner for four years. Jim and Norma Lund completed “Lake County History – The First Hundred Years” for the Lake County Historical Society.
Both Jim and Dorothy have been active in their community, serving as 4-H, Girl Scout and Campfire leaders, leadership positions in the Presbyterian Church, the Community College Board and the Lake County Fair and Historical Society.
