No news is truly good news, in some instances.
The Lake County Railroad’s operations are continuing ‘steady as she goes,’ as it were, in a relatively uneventful fashion.
Lake County’s facilities manager, Dave Berman, said in a recent interview that the railroad’s click-clacking right along under Lake Railway, LLC, a division of Frontier Rail and the private company operating the railroad with a lease agreement in place with Lake County.
The railroad provides transportation of product for both Collins Companies’ Lakeview Sawmill as well as Cornerstone Industrial Minerals along the 55-mile short rail line to Alturas, Calif.
A local advisory committee of varied interested parties meets regularly to discuss the railroad’s operations and potential needs, Berman said.
The county and the Pit River tribe are currently seeking to discuss how the tribe may become more involved with this group in sharing their concerns and views related to railroad issues and topics.
