Lakeview’s community swimming pool officially re-opened for business on Monday, June 16, and has been getting quite a bit of use since with a busy summer scheduled.
The Lakeview swim team practices are held in the mornings from 7 to 9:50 a.m. The team is preparing for its first meet of the season, which takes place in Prineville June 27-29. Coach Emily McDonald in her third year leading the team has been working hard leading kids through the basics of different swimming stroke styles and how to turn off the wall.
There is also a water aerobics class for seniors, public swimming lessons, lap swims, and open swims for the general public.
Water aerobics classes are split into two sessions, session one running from June 16 through July 11, meeting at 5 p.m. at the pool Monday through Friday. Session two will run from July 14 to Aug. 8. Water aerobics classes are $40 per session, or $3.50 per class.
Lap swims are held from noon to 1 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, as well as an hour lap swim from 11 a.m. to noon on weekends. Cost is $3.50 for a lap swim day pass.
Six sessions of swimming lessons will be held over the summer, starting with free lessons June 23-27, followed by a more in-depth swim lesson group June 30 through July 11 and four additional swimming lesson sessions thereafter held through the end of August. The cost for swimming lessons is $17, and take place Monday through Friday starting at 10 a.m.
Open public swimming is available from 1 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday to Friday, and from 7 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. except on Mondays. Weekend open swims are also available from noon to 7 p.m. The cost of a day pass for a public swim is $4.

Town Hall reports that as of Friday, June 20 there have been 22 family passes and 20 individual passes sold, as well as 14 13-day passes. There is no cost for use of the new kiddie pool, which opened on June 23.
